I just cleaned out my attic and garage and found that I had a whole pile of stuff I needed to get rid of. I hated the idea of dumping this stuff out by the curb for the garbage collector to pick up, especially since some of these things still had plenty of useful life in them. I had an old mantle clock, some really nice picture frames, some empty suitcases, and a collection of movies I hadn’t watched in ages. So rather than junk everything, I decided it was time to sell stuff on eBay.

I’d never really used an online auction site before but I figured it couldn’t be too difficult to sell stuff on eBay, so I went over to the site and looked around a bit. No doubt there were plenty of people selling lots of similar items through the auction site, so I knew that I should be able to do so as well. I checked the various categories that eBay has for their listings and I found that there are a vast number of sections where items can be posted for sale.

After poking around a while I decided that I was ready to get started. Just like many other sites on the Internet, an auction site like eBay is going to require you to set up an account and create a profile before you begin to take advantage of their service. So I decided I would create an account, and it only took me a few minutes to get my information entered and verified, and within no time at all I was ready to sell stuff on eBay.

Next, I had to create some listings for the items I wanted to sell. In order to make that a bit easier on myself, I did a search using eBay’s simple search field and found people selling the same sorts of things I had to offer. After all, if I planned to sell stuff on eBay for the first time, I might as well take advantage of other people’s experience and expertise, right? Within a half an hour I had found several auction listings that were similar to my own items, and I used these listings as a guide for creating mine. To me, that’s a smart way to sell stuff on eBay: find out what works and duplicate it.

In the end, I found that it was pretty darned easy to sell stuff on eBay, and now that I’ve got the hang of it, I’ll probably do it a lot more often. In a matter of a little over a week I sold all but one of those items from the attic and the garage, and I stand to pocket over $100 from things I would have otherwise put out by the curb for the trash collector. To my mind, that’s a big win.

Perhaps you are in a non-profit organisation. Why should you create a website? Perhaps you are offering a gardening or plumbing or dentistry service. Why should you create a website? Perhaps you are selling private jets. Why should you create a website?

Why Should You Create a website?

A. What do you want when you create a website?

B. What to do to get what you want.

A. What do you want?

1. You may be in a non-profit organisation and want to post forthcoming events on the web. You don’t want to have thousands of visitors to the site. But wait – do you want to create a website for new members from the web?

2. You may have a small business selling locally. You’re happy with yellow pages. But wait – how many thousand words can you put in your yellow page advert? There is no limit if you create a website.

Have you ever had someone keep you on the phone for half an hour of your valuable time with their questions? Wouldn’t it be nice to direct them to your website for answers and sales messages? Create a website!

Once you’ve written all those answers, wouldn’t it be profitable to have potential customers reading your answers? Create a website.

3. Perhaps you sell items weighing a hundred tons costing a million dollars. When you create a website you can still write as much information about your product as you like – not like the yellow pages. Then you can direct prospects to phone to make an appointment with your sales staff.

4. You want to sell a product on the web. First create a website then get lots of traffic.

5. You want to make money on the web?!! Without a product?!! No…I’m not joking. Create a website. If you have lots of traffic you don’t even have to be good at selling to make some money with Google AdSense.

If you’re good at pre-selling then you can try affiliate marketing, or selling advertising on your site, or several other channels of income. Just create a website and get the traffic first.

B. What to do about it

To get high traffic you must give visitors what they want. Tricking Google will only get your domain banned from their listing.

Here are some things not to do when you create a website. If your visitors hit the back button their numbers don’t count.

1. Don’t use frames when you create a website – the search engines can’t find you, and the inventors of frames don’t use them on their own website.

2. It may be artistic to disguise your links, but you will lose customers. I visited a site that displayed just one big picture. I happened to pass my mouse over the picture on the way to the back button, and discovered links flashing on the screen. Apparently I had to click on bits of the picture to see any more!

3. Don’t use Flash when you create a website. If people are using ADSL they are unlikely to wait longer than three seconds before hitting the back button. If they’re on a 56K modem they might be prepared to wait ten seconds. You’ve just lost another client.

4. Don’t use big pictures when you create a website. If you have a photography site, use postage stamp sized pictures with the size stated in your coding, and ask the visitor to click for a larger picture. Telling the browser how high and wide your picture is will allow it to load after the text, so your visitor has something to look at meantime.

5. Don’t use irrelevant pictures when you create a website. One picture is worth a thousand words, but only if the picture is saying what you want it to say.

Why do people visit websites? It is NOT for entertainment. Their TV gives them all the moving pictures that they need. Even if it is an adult site, the visitor is really wanting to download digital information for later entertainment.

Information is what your visitor wants. When you create a website don’t waste your time and money on anything else.

If you want a truly professional website I recommend you visit: Navertech
<!--

Are you an Internet Marketer looking for new ways to generate income? Are you trying to break into the Internet money making market? If you answered yes to either of these questions you will want to read on.

There is an unlimited money making opportunity just knocking at your door, in a niche that is very often overlooked. You may be surprised to find out that Internet marketers are in high demand for off line businesses.

Small and medium sized local businesses are just beginning to realize that they need to make a presence on the Internet. After all, most of us spend a rather large chunk of each and every day on line, so there truly is not a better place to advertise.

The trouble for small business owners is that most of them don’t have a clue where to begin. Advertising and promoting their business on line is simply overwhelming and foreign to them. They really have no clue where to begin or what they need to do. This is where you come in. There is so much you can offer a local business owner, from website design, blogs, advertisements and the list goes on.

You of course will need to have a plan in place and a proven way to approach these businesses. You will then need to know exactly how to set them up on the Internet, so that they are marketable and can turn a profit from your work. With the right tools, this really is quite simple.

This introduction to e-commerce will help you understand the different types of e-commerce, as well as its advantages and drawbacks. E-commerce is all around us, it has been for years, even long before the Internet. Starting in the ’60s, businesses began sharing files and information with each other electronically, the very first form of e-commerce. With the Internet, people gained the ability to purchase goods and services from businesses and each other, electronically. All these make up the face of e-commerce today.

Business-to-business e-commerce is the exchange and transfer of files and money between businesses, and as I’ve mentioned, this began in the 1960s. It took hold in the ’80s, though, when one standard was set for electronic transactions that allowed all businesses to connect this way.

Consumer-to-consumer e-commerce is when a person goes online and exchanges goods and services with another person. eBay, for instance, is the original consumer-to-consumer site, with its auctions in which anyone can put up goods for sale to the site’s visitors.

Peer-to-peer e-commerce began with Napster offering free music downloads via a file-sharing system. Now there are many more sites and computer programmes that operate on that model, where users share files with each other.

And of course, business-to-consumer e-commerce is simply when consumers purchase goods or services from businesses online. With the explosion of the Internet’s popularity in recent years, this type of e-commerce has become a multi-billion dollar industry that’s only expected to keep growing.

The advantages of e-commerce include the ability to comparison shop from the comfort of your home. There’s no need to stand in line, fight crowds or pay for fuel to purchase almost anything you can imagine these days. Websites cater to each shopper, often with customized recommendations of products based on the items the shopper browses, or previous purchases. It’s convenient and secure, and much less hassle than driving from store to store.

However, no introduction to e-commerce would be complete without listing the drawbacks. Some people are unsure about the idea of purchasing online, either because they’re simply unfamiliar with how to do it, or they don’t trust that their credit card information is truly safe. Often, if they’re not familiar with the store, they might doubt whether they’ll ever received the purchased items. And, some people do enjoy the act of browsing through shops for a day with family or friends. Also, some types of stores do better online that others. Large purchases, where a consumer wants to be able to see and touch the items before purchase, like furniture, for instance, typically don’t see lots of online sales.

As the popularity of the Internet and society’s growing familiarity with everything online increases, more people will become comfortable shopping online. As more people are given an introduction to e- commerce by their friends, and even their children, sales will continue to rise.
